Alice P. Paxton, M.Ed., NCG, President & Founder, is one of only three Nationally Certified Guardians for Virginia. In 2013, she founded Paladin Life Care to provide exceptional, compassionate care to senior clients and those with disabilities. Alice’s passion for customized, dedicated care for each client is unmatched. It is reflected in every member of the Paladin Life Care Team. In addition to Alice’s leadership role at Paladin Life Care, she is an active member of her community and her church where she volunteers in many capacities and serves meals to those in need. Alice has been honored and humbled to receive numerous awards for her public service.
Julie Rose, M.Ed., Chief Executive Officer, has been a member of the Paladin Life Care Team for more than four years. She brings a wealth of expertise to her position ensuring that clients receive the exceptional care and prompt attention they deserve. Prior to joining Paladin Life Care she utilized her Masters of Education degree and taught for ten years. She mentored new teachers and created programs for gifted and talented students including those in underserved populations. For more than ten years she was the co-owner of Lokelani Designs Jewelry where she cultivated a complete international designer jewelry collection, created company systems and controls, recruited, and trained team members. In addition, she served as department manager at Saks 5th Avenue where she was responsible for training new sales staff and setting and tracking sales goals.
Emily Duncan, Chief Financial Officer, has more than ten years of advocacy experience. She serves as Trustee, Conservator, Representative Payee, and Power of Attorney for many Paladin Life Care clients. Emily is a strong proponent of client-centered care and the shared decision-making model. She understands that decisions must respect what matters most to clients as individuals. Emily is dedicated to integrating and honoring choices and informed preferences.
Shelia Kirkbride, Chief Operating Officer, holds a Master’s of Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling. Shelia leads the expansion of the Paladin Life Care Team to serve more clients with unmatched comprehensive, customized care. Formerly Vice President of Emotional Health & Wellness with Paladin Life Care, she has more than 20 years working with Dual Diagnosis clients and Wellness Coaching. Shelia’s in-depth knowledge of mental health and therapeutic experience are an asset to clients and to Nurse Care Managers and Client Care Managers as the Health & Emotional Wellness Division continues to expand. Under Shelia’s guidance, the Paladin Life Care Team provides clients with personalized care that takes multiple facets of personal and physiological functioning, psychology, and overall performance into account.
Julie Kind, Vice President of Client Services, has more than 20 years of experience at diverse for-profit and non-profit organizations of all sizes. She is passionate about serving the elderly and disenfranchised. Her strong desire to improve quality of life for individuals shines through in everything Julie does. She has extensive expertise managing all facets of life care including analyzation of circumstances and researching and creating strategies that assist and contribute to a well-rounded quality of life regarding housing, finances, emotional stability, living conditions, and health needs.
Michelle Thompson works closely with clients to improve their days and help them live their best lives. Leveraging her previous teaching and writing experience, she implements a compassionate, common-sense approach and helps clients work through challenging situations. Michelle’s ability to engage with clients enables her to effectively assess their needs and create a customized plan of care. Michelle assists with determining appropriate housing options, helping with all aspects of moving, and finding top-quality in-home care. She joined the Paladin Life Care Team in 2020.
Dedicated to helping others, Heather joined the Paladin Life Care Team in 2023. Her experience as a therapist for those with developmental disabilities, combined with her Master’s Degree in Human Services Counseling, serves clients well. Heather is patient, warm, compassionate, and dedicated to clients’ quality of life. She connects well with clients. Before joining the Paladin Life Team in 2023, Heather served as a therapist and counselor.
Joining the Paladin Life Team in 2023, Annemarie works closely with clients to ensure they are living their best lives now. Her extensive experience as a case manager and social worker provides her with strong attention to detail, compassion, and outstanding communication skills. Annemarie connects with clients and becomes an integral part of their care team. Prior to joining Paladin Life Care, Annemarie was a case manager with Catholic Charities in Hawaii.
Elizabeth joined the Paladin Life Care Team in 2023. She works directly with clients and ensures their medical needs are being met. She is passionate about helping seniors and those with disabilities live their best lives possible. With more than ten years of nursing experience, complemented by her strong communications skills and compassion, Elizabeth’s clients feel well cared for and comfortable. Prior to her position with Paladin Life Care, she was a patient services coordinator, field nurse, and floor nurse.
Drawing on her wealth of finance, budgeting, accounting, and management experience, Christine is highly qualified to provide clients with the daily money management and fiduciary services they need. A trusted expert who connects and relates well to clients, she makes sure that clients’ funds are spent wisely and most effectively to ensure the long-term viability of their financial support. Christine joined the Paladin Life Care Team in 2023.
Bill Floyd, RN holds degrees in finance and nursing. He is experienced working with elderly and special needs clients. Bill has provided direct patient care in the long-term acute care setting and served as the Director of Nursing in the private Home Care Sector. In addition, he has served as a Clinical Liaison for a large intravenous home therapy corporation where he was responsible for educating and training patients on a variety of intravenous therapies. Bill is dedicated to supporting Paladin Life Care’s mission, vision, and values. Working collaboratively with Paladin Life Care’s executive, nursing, and client care teams, he ensures that each client’s unique needs and wishes are addressed and reflected in their customized care plans. Client satisfaction is of paramount importance to Bill and Paladin Life Care. He believes in timely client and care team communication to proactively address a client’s evolving needs and priorities.
Shelly applies more than 12 years of experience to the full-service bookkeeping services she provides to Paladin Life Care. She manages the accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, payroll, financial review, and budget support. Also, Shelly oversees the Daily Money Manager Department. Known for her warmth, efficiency, and professionalism, Shelly has been part of the Paladin Life Care Team since 2019. She is dedicated to the exceptional quality of care and service Paladin Life Care provides to clients. Prior to joining Paladin Life Care, Shelly provided management and bookkeeping services to several other businesses.
